They’ve been both adversaries and partners inside the squared circle, but outside of the ring CHRIS BEY and SHOGUN have been the best of friends – brothers – throughout each’s respective professional wrestling journey.
It is especially tragic, therefore, that these two FSW Fan Favorite warriors have both recently suffered major injuries which could keep both athletes out of action for some time.
CHRIS BEY
On October 27, 2024 – during a taping of “TNA Impact!” in Detroit, Michigan – FSW Wall of Famer and current FSW Mecca Grand Champion, CHRIS BEY, suffered a serious injury that resulted in the show being brought to an immediate end.
The injury seemingly occurred during the main event of the television taping, with Bey and tag team partner, Ace Austin, challenging Matt and Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Just two nights before, both teams took part in a three-way tag bout that saw the title change hands from Bryan Myers and Eddie Edwards to the Hardy brothers.
The Ultimate Finneser, CHRIS BEY, is a former FSW Tag Team Champion, former FSW Heavyweight Champion, and is the current/reigning FSW Mecca Grand Champion.
Bey has been a stalwart member of the TNA/Impact Wrestling roster for years and is “widely adored” backstage. Bey and Austin have previously held the TNA World Tag Team Championship three times, with their most recent reign lasting from July 2024 until September 2024. Bey has also held the company’s X-Division Championship.
In addition to his work in TNA, Bey has made appearances in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, maintaining membership in the TNA wing of Bullet Club. Bey also made one WWE appearance just a few years into his career – facing Ariya Daivari on an episode of “205 Live” in 2019.
Chris Bey has begun the rehabilitation process following emergency neck surgery after the in-ring accident at the October 27, 2024 TNA Impact TV taping. He continues to show daily improvements that bring a smile to the face of those around him and Bey himself.
Chris’ long-time friend and Tag Team Partner, Ace Austin, gave an update on Bey as part of TNA’s statement:
“I was in the ring with Chris when the incident occurred last Sunday and I’ve been by his side ever since. It was just as normal as anything we’ve done in the ring thousands of times. Everything was alright until it wasn’t. Each moment is precious and I’m cherishing every moment I’ve had in the ring and around the world with Chris, and every moment I have by his side right now. There will be a lot of hard work ahead, but we don’t know any other kind of work. Chris won’t be alone for any of this. He’s going to be surrounded by love and support from every single one of us. The road to recovery is going to be easy as ABC.”
How To Show Your Support For CHRIS BEY:
Chicago-based Pro Wrestling Tees released the official fundraising shirt for Chris Bey, with all proceeds going to Chris.
Jeremy Sanchez and Stan Victor (aka: SHOGUN), longtime friends of Chris, established the official GoFundMe page to support Chris and “show our support for him and ease the stress of the financial burden associated with this injury,” Sanchez said. “Your contributions mean so much and will help him focus on getting better without financial stress”
SHOGUN
On November 28, 2024 – Thanksgiving Night – Stan Victor (aka: SHOGUN) was involved in a serious automobile accident. He was taken to University Medical Center (UMC) – where he remains in recovery as of the writing of this content (Dec 14 2024).
Debuting at FSW in 2018 as the Enforcer for the duo of (then FSW No Limits Champion) Nick Bughatti and Mazzarati, SHOGUN has done nothing short of making an impact from day one.
SHOGUN was voted 2018’s ROOKIE OF THE YEAR and has rolled through FSW’s best ever since.
Among the many highlights of SHOGUN’s FSW career (to date), two which most certainly stand out are SHOGUN forming one of the most formidable Tag Teams in FSW history with (former) partner, HERO LEU . . . calling themselves TBD. Within a relatively short time, these two behemoths would become FSW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS – titles which they held for the better part of a full-year.
On November 19, 2023, at FSW LUCK OF THE DRAW, over five years of hard work, sweat, and tears reached their ultimate fruition as SHOGUN defeated ICE WILLIAMS and MATT VANDAGRIFF in a No DQ Triple-Threat Match to become FSW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.
SHOGUN would go on to hold the FSW Heavyweight Championship for an impressive seven month reign before losing the Title to DANNY LIMELIGHT – with a little help from his daughter – in June 2023 at FSW’s 15-YEAR ANNIVERSARY.
